CUET Eligibility Criteria 2024

Here are CUET eligibility criteria mentioned in detail:

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
The minimum aggregate marks required in the qualifying exam is 50% for General/OBC category candidates and 45% for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.
There is no age limit for appearing in the CUET UG 2024 exam.

CUET 2024 Registration

To apply for CUET 2024, candidates need to register for the online application form and make a note of the system-generated application number. The application form requires candidates to provide their personal details and create a password, along with choosing a security question and entering an answer. Once the personal details are submitted successfully, the application number will be generated and can be used to complete the remaining steps of the form and for future reference. For subsequent logins, candidates can use the application number and password created during CUET 2024 registration.

To apply for CUET (UG) 2024, follow the steps given below:

Click on the link to apply for CUET (UG) 2024.
Register for the Online Application Form and note down the system-generated Application Number.
Fill in the required details in the Online Application Form and create a password.
Choose a security question and provide the answer.
Submit the personal details and note down the Application Number generated for future reference.
Log in with the respective application number and created password for subsequent logins.
Complete the remaining steps of CUET application form.
Upload the scanned copies of required documents such as the candidate’s photograph, signature, etc.
Pay CUET application fee through the given payment modes.

CUET 2024 Syllabus

CUET syllabus varies for each subject chosen by the candidate and is aligned with the National Education Policy 2020. The syllabus for General Test includes General Knowledge, Mental Ability, and Logical Reasoning. For languages , the syllabus is based on Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary. The domain-specific syllabus is based on NCERT for Class 12th, with candidates being tested on related topics even if not included in NCERT.

CUET 2024 Exam Pattern

CUET 2024 is an online computer-based entrance test available in 13 languages. The exam consists of objective-type questions (MCQs) and is divided into four sections:

The CUET 2024 exam consists of multiple-choice questions and the candidates must choose the correct or most appropriate answer from the options provided. If any discrepancy is found after the key verification process, the following rules will be applied:

Correct answer or most appropriate answer: +5 marks
Incorrect option marked: -1 mark
Unanswered/Marked for Review: 0 marks
If there is more than one correct option, +5 marks will be awarded only to those who have marked any of the correct options.
If all options are correct, +5 marks will be awarded to all who have attempted the question.
If none of the options is correct, or a question is wrong or dropped, all candidates who have attempted the question will be given +5 marks.

Students can follow the following suggestion preparation tips for the upcoming CUET exam.

Firstly, create a study routine.
Go through the syllabus as suggested by CUET.
Check the exam pattern and understand the marking scheme and sections included in each paper.
It is recommended to solve previous year question paper for better understanding of the exam.

What is CUET?

Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission in UG courses offered in all the participating institutions. Till 2021, the full name of the exam was Central Universities Common Entrance Test or CUCET, which has been changed by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The exam is conducted once a year in over 500 cities in India and abroad. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode for two hours. Originally CUCET was conducted by UGC in paper-pencil-based mode. Last year onwards, NTA is conducting the test in a computer-based mode.

What should I do after the CUET results?

Common University Entrance Test (CUET – 2024) conducted by the NTA is a highly competitive exam. The CUET 2024 result will be the ticket for admission to top universities in the country. But, merely applying, writing the CUET, and scoring well will not be enough to get you to your dream college.

Then what should you do after the CUET results are declared? What steps do you need to follow to ensure that you don’t miss out on the opportunity for admission to your dream college and program ?

The UG admission process for 2024 will briefly involve 5 important steps/components:

The most important step from the above mentioned 5 is University registration.

After the CUET 2024 result is declared or even before, you must predict your result (analyzing the final answer key). Do your research properly, identifying which universities you might be eligible for. Also, be up-to-date with notifications from all the universities of your choice. Be sure to visit the websites of your target universities and check their registration process details.

This is very crucial, students must know that university registration is different from CUET registration. For taking part in any universities counseling/admission process, students must register to the respective universities admission portal by paying a nominal fee (like CSAS portal for DU). Most of the participating universities will be conducting their own counseling sessions for which you will have to fill in forms.

After completing your university registration form and filling in your preference list (for some universities), you will have to submit your documents and pay the fees. This step is the most crucial one, students must not forget to save & submit their application and pay the required fees. Failing to do so will make them “not eligible” to participate in the university counselling/admission process irrespective of how high they might have scored in the CUET.

Finally, the universities/colleges will announce their merit/cut-off list. Student had to check the list and their CUET score (percentile) to see if they are eligible or not. All the universities and colleges are expected to release multiple merit/cut-off lists. Students are advised to remain calm and stay up-to-date with the university announcements, who doesn’t make it to their desired universities/colleges in the first or second list.

What is CSAS 3 ?

CSAS 3 is the third round of seat allocation for undergraduate admissions to the University of Delhi through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). The first round of seat allocation took place on July 8, 2024, and the second round on July 15, 2024. The third round of seat allocation is scheduled to take place on July 22, 2024.

Students who have not been allotted a seat in the first two rounds of seat allocation will be eligible to participate in the third round. The seat allocation process will be based on the CUET scores of the students and their preferences for colleges and courses.

The CSAS 3 seat allocation will be conducted online through the DU CSAS portal. Students will be able to log in to the portal and view their allocated seat. If they are satisfied with the seat, they can freeze it by paying the requisite fees. If they are not satisfied, they can opt for the upgrade option and wait for the next round of seat allocation.

The deadline for freezing the seat in the CSAS 3 round is July 25, 2024. Students who fail to freeze their seat by the deadline will lose their seat.

The CSAS 3 round is the last round of seat allocation for undergraduate admissions to DU through CSAS. After the third round, any vacant seats will be filled

through spot admissions.

CSAS ROUND 1 ALLOCATION LIST

The CSAS Round 1 Allocation List for the 2024-2025 academic year has not yet been released. It is expected to be released in August 2024, after the conclusion of the CSAS Phase 2 registration process.

Once the CSAS Round 1 Allocation List is released, it will be available on the DU website at https://admission.uod.ac.in/. Candidates can check the list by logging in with their CUET application number and password.

The CSAS Round 1 Allocation List will show the college and course that each candidate has been allotted. Candidates who have been allotted a seat will have four days to accept the allocation or to opt for a higher preference.

CUET – 2024 Notification highlights

The National Testing Agency (NTA) came out with the notification on 26th March 2024.

Here are the highlights.

Single Test for any Central University in the country (includes DU, BHU, Allahabad Univ, JMI, HU, EFLU etc)
The test would be a Computer Based Test (CBT) with objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Application will open from 6th April to 6th May 2024 The link for the same will be made available on the official website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/
Test is divided into 4 sections :

Section IA & IB to comprise of Language Test; Section II to comprise of domain specific subjects; Section III would be a General Test

Section 1A : Languages

Any of the following 13 languages (English, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Assamese, and Urdu )may be attempted.

Section 1B : Languages

Any of the the following 19 languages (French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Sanskrit, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, and Chinese) may be attempted.

Section 2 : Domain

Maximum of 6 can be attempted from this list (1.Accountancy/ Book Keeping 2.Biology/ Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry 3.Business Studies 4.Chemistry 5.Computer Science/ Informatics Practices 6.Economics/ Business Economics 7.Engineering Graphics 8.Entrepreneurship 9.Geography/Geology 10.History 11.Home Science 12.Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India 13.Legal Studies 14.Environmental Science 15.Mathematics 16.Physical Education/ NCC /Yoga 17.Physics 18.Political Science 19.Psychology 20.Sociology 21.Teaching Aptitude 22.Agriculture 23. Section 3 : General Test

This will be based on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

Except for the language test, the remaining sections can be attempted in any of the 13 languages (English, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Assamese, and Urdu)

Note : NTA has released ONLY the skeleton of the test. Depending on the University and the course that one is applying, sections and subjects within sections must be chosen.

Each University will now come out with their requirements for each course.

NTA CUET 2024 Notification, Exam Dates & Application Form

The National Testing Agency will soon start the online registration process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), a national-level entrance test offering admissions to UG, PG and integrated programs offered by 45 central universities.

Earlier, the aspirants were evaluated based on12th marks, but now you are required to appear for the common aptitude test to get admission to any one these courses.

Why Central Universities Common Entrance Test 2024 [CUET]?

BHU Admissions through CUET 2024

From the academic year 2024–25, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will provide admission to different courses through the Central Universities Common Entrance Test.

As per an official announcement, the BHU admissions through CUET will make the process of selection even in terms of opportunity and demography.

You will be required to take an aptitude test (CUET), administered by NTA as a part of the selection process, which will assess your aptitude, logical reasoning skills, and subject proficiency.

To qualify the next round, you have to score a minium qualifying marks in the entrance exam. If you clear the exam, you have to apply for admissions by paying the requisite amount at the official website of BHU.

The college and seat allotment of a candidate will be done on the basis of the merit list prepared using CUET and eligibility criteraia.

JNU Admissions through CUET 2024

Admission to various courses at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will be done through the CUET exam from this year.

JNU offers 10 undergraduate courses through various centers of School of language, Literature and Cultural Studies. Only those who will score above the cut off in the aptitude test are eligible for JNU admissIons through CUET.

The university offers reservation in admissions as per the central government rules. Also, it offers schorships like merit-cum-means schlorships, ford foundation scholarships, etc.

To be eligible for the UG programs at JNU, you should have passed Intermediate(10+2) from CBSE or any other recognized board with English as one of the core subjects.

AMU Admissions through CUET 2024

As per the latest announcement, admission to various courses at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will be done through the the CU Common Entrance Test.

AMU admissions through CUET is done based on the marks score in the aptitude test. Those who will pass the entrance exam will be eligible for the counseling process, and have to apply for admissions at the official website of AMU.

The university offers various courses such as B.A. (Hons.) Arabic, B.A. (Hons.) Communicative English , B.A. (Hons.) Geography, B.A. (Hons.) Philosophy, B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit, and many more.

To apply for these courses, you must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with at atleast 50% marks in aggregate of English and best three subjects.

CUET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the common aptitude test, you must satisfy the certain criteria set by the exam conducting body.

The expected CUET Eligibility Criteria for the courses are enlisted below:

All Indian Nationals are eligible to apply for the exam.
For UG courses, you must have complete your calss1 2 with a minimum of 50% marks (for the general category) and it is 45% for SC/ST category.
PG applicants belonging to the general category must have completed a bachelor’s degree with 55% aggregate marks. For SC, ST category, the minimum percentage required is 50%.
PhD applicants who have qualified CSIR UGC NET (JRF), GATE, NBHM will have to mandatorily register for the exam.

CUET 2024 Application form

The NTA will release the application window in online mode expectedly in the month of March/April 2024. There is a common registration process for UG, PG, and PhD corses.

You can follow the instructions given below while filling the CUET Application Form 2024.

The initial step is registration. The online window to register for the exam shall appear on the screen after clicking on the “click here to apply” button on the official website.
Once you click on the “new register” button, the commonly asked registration fields such as name, mobile number, E-mail ID shall appear on the screen.
Upon successful registration, you will receive the username and password to the registered mobile number and E-mail.
You then have to fill in all mandatory fields like qualification details, communication details, parent’s details, exam center preferences, and category.
The next step is to upload your photograph, signature, and other required documents as per the specifications given in the official notification.
Then, select any three universities you wish to secure admission and thereafter, select any three courses in each university.
Once selected, click on the “save & proceeded” button and preview the online form.
Next, click on the “make payment” button any pay the application fee as per your category.

You can pay the application fee either online or offline mode. The application fee varies for different categories.

Based on the news published in the TOI newspaper, the question paper would comprise Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Subject-specific test (to be chosen by the student while filling the form).

To crack the entrance exams like Central University Common Entrance Test, you would require a proper preparation strategy and a study plan.

Begin your CUET preparation well in advance as this will help you complete the syllabus on time and you will also be left with ample time to revisea ll the topics at least once before the exam.

For quantitative section, revise all the concepts of standard 8th, 9th, and 10th mathematics as most of the questions might be asked from these topics.
For English, improve your vocabulary by making a habit of reading the newspaper daily.
Note down the difficult words and their meanings in a notebook and try to revise them regularly.
Try to solve as many logical reasoning questions as possible that are given at the end of textbooks. In this way, you can enhance your and speed and accuracy.
Also, practice more and more puzzle-related questions to improve your problem-solving skills.
Attempt at least two mock tests weekly to analyze your preparation levels.

CUET 2024 Admit Card/Hall Ticket

The Central Universities Common Entrance Test Admit Card will be out on the official website 10-15 prior to the exam. You can download the CUCT admit card online by using your login credentials.

You must make sure to carry the call letter to the exam center without fail. Otherwise, you are not allowed to take the exam.

CUET 2024 Counselling

Each participating college will conduct a separate counselling process after the completion of the exam. You have to visit the official website of participating institutes and register yourself to participate in the CUET Counselling Process.

At the time of registration, you need to select the desired program in teh particular university you wish to apply for. Also, there will be a separate counselling fee for each institute.

Jamia Millia Islamia

This is the first university you can target after giving CUET. This university was ranked the best central university of India in rankings released by the ministry of education in 2020.

History

CUCET was first conducted to admission for seven central universities for 1,500 seats in 41 undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated courses from 2010. The application form was filled up through CUCET-2010 which held on 19 and 20 June 2010 in about 30 examination centres spread across the country.^[3] From its inception in 2010 till 2020, the CUCET was conducted by the Central University of Rajasthan for 12 Central Universities. The National Testing Agency took over the conduct of these exams in 2021.^[1] In 2022, as a part of National Education Policy 2020, CUET is introduced as revamped version of CUCET making it compulsory for all 43 central universities to adopt it.^[4]

As per the latest CUET updates 2022, the CUET entrance test 2022 will now be having four sections:

The CUET 2022 consist of language test, domain-specific papers and the general test.^[5]^[6] Candidates can opt for combination of atmost 2 languages and 6 domain-specific subject or 3 languages and 5 domain-specific tests. CUET entrance test 2022 will now be conducted in two slots. The duration of first slot is 45 to 195 minutes and the duration of the second slot is 45 to 225 minutes.

Marking scheme includes 5 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong response.

Central universities in India are public universities established by an Act of Parliament and are under the purview of the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education,^[1] except for nine universities which are under the purview of other ministries.^[2] In general, universities in India are recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which draws its power from the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.^[3] In addition, 15 Professional Councils are established, controlling different aspects of accreditation and coordination.^[4] Central universities, in addition, are covered by the Central Universities Act, 2009, which regulates their purpose, powers, governance etc., and established 12 new universities.^[5]

As of June 2024, the list of central universities published by the UGC includes 56 central universities.^[2]
